I am just a guy with a job and a family who is learning to love.
I am Christopher, a middle aged man with a wife and three adult daughters. My life is pretty average for a "baby boomer" growing up in the United States. I have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, and am a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). Most recently, I have been doing project management work implementing manufacturing systems, globally, for a Fortune 500 company.
I am a follower of Jesus Christ, and I attend a large, diverse, church. However I did not grow up as a Christian. Actually, I had very little religious training as a child. In my late teens I became very involved with what would now be called the New Age Movement. How I came to be a Christian is a long story, but it took place during the first couple years of my marriage. Initially, I had a lot of questions, and did a lot of research into the Christian faith, as it relates to other belief systems. The life and teachings of Francis and Edith Schaeffer's ministry, L'Abr Fellowship, has also been a big influence in my life. During this time, I was influenced by men of faith and prayer, such as George Muller or Hudson Taylor.
A few years ago, I attended a year at Bethel Seminary in St. Paul. At Bethel I was exposed to theologians such as Wolfhart Pannenberg, and through Pannenberg, Jürgen Moltmann (perhaps my favorite theologian). I was also introduced to the idea of spiritual formation, and discovered the classic writings from the Christian contemplative tradition.
Since then, I continue to grow in my faith. My blog, Reflections in Christpraxis
is focused on the practice of Christ. My blog, Living As Humans is a broader attempt to engage current issues and events, and trying to discern how to respond to this age we live in.guitar, worship, discipleship, hiking, reading, culture, people, theology, prayer, cigars, good discussions with a friend
